The Crown

We never know what it’s like to live someone else’s life. What can seem amazing and glamorous from afar can actually be miserable and lonely when examined more closely.

Case in point. My wife and I are watching the, “The Crown.” The popular television drama focuses on the queen from the 1940s through modern times. I think it’s fair to say that nobody in the royal family is happy. In our life there are things we should strive to do to live a fuller and happier life. There are also some things we should not do and at the top of that list is compare ourselves to others.

We also shouldn’t emulate others just because they make a lot of money, drive a fancy car, or are famous in some way. The documentary, “Framing Britney Spears” reveals how fame and fortune can cause problems.

I’ve touched on this before, but with shows like, “The Crown,” “Bridgerton,” and “Succession” all winning awards, it seems we want an escape from our reality. From these shows we can clearly see that happiness is not always tied to wealth, power, or celebrity.

As cliche’ as it sounds, it still holds true that having purpose and passion in our work, love and friendship in our life, and when we have our health, we have everything.
