Having gotten to know Laban personally and having heard a couple of his stories I was still unable to put his book down because (and this will sound terrible) his wild days were really wild which meant I wasn't as out of control as I thought I was when I was younger.
It's a cautionary tale and one that makes us feel like whatever we face it could be worse and we can overcome and change for the better.
