Now that people may be coming over to visit again we purchased new furniture for our home. We went to a local furniture store and ordered a couch, ottoman, chair, and a few other items. They said it would all be delivered in 2-3 weeks. Two months later we were still waiting.
Many businesses are having staffing issues, problems with suppliers, and delayed deliveries. What I would have preferred is if the furniture store would have underpromised on the delivery date and their offer to keep us posted (they never contacted us, we had to call and wait on hold for 45 minutes) and overdelivered by having everything ready and delivered when they actually did.
Most people understand delays and would be willing to wait. Most people also like to be surprised when something is done faster, better, easier, or cheaper than promised.
