Nothing To Lose

One of the better books I’ve read recently is, The Power of Broke by Daymond John of Shark Tank. The premise is when we have nothing we have to be resourceful and find a way to do everything quickly, efficiently, creatively, confidently, and authentically. The saying, “Desperate times call for desperate measures” sometimes means we’re willing to go all in because we don’t care anymore what people think. It’s a powerful position to be in—but maybe not enviable. It’s the same when we have nothing left to lose. When our very survival depends on getting a “yes” answer we don’t fear hearing “no” as much—so we go for it.

Fear of failing, being rejected, losing what we have, looking stupid, or worrying we will be seen as desperate can hold us back. If we let go of that fear it’s amazing what we can accomplish.
