Okay, I admit, I used the term "aged" in the title just to grab your attention. The truth is, I'm an advocate for working with and learning from people with experience. There are things that simply can't be learned unless they are lived. People with a few laps around sun have a lot to share and often know what to do when others with less experience don't. Age is an asset, and now that I am piling up birthdays, I'm happy to hear it. I worried that maybe I would become obsolete as I passed major milestones and was now often the "older" person in the room. (I had a lot of success early on so I was used to always being the youngest person there.) Back then I was so niave I didn't know better and just charged ahead and (I can admit this now) just got lucky. I also made a lot of mistakes.
I'm now embracing my age and my experience and whenever possible sharing what I learned the hard way so others can have an easier path. This is especially true with speaking in public. I love working with people who have little or no experince behind a mic or on a stage and share tips and tricks I earned during my years on the road—especially with SkillPath when I did 100 all-day workshops a year. I'm here to help if you need me.
