It would be easy to write our life story in 1,000+ words. Maybe even 500. But can we do it in 250 words or less? I’m going to try. Then I hope you will give it a try yourself. (It’s not about the quality of the writing. It’s a chance to look back and celebrate your success.)
“I grew up in the suburbs of New Jersey in a large house with a pool and a boat. My father quit his job and moved us to San Diego. Our family of five lived in a one-bedroom apartment while he started and built a business—with me working by his side. I was also bit by the business bug and I started my first of several small businesses at the age of 11.
At the age of 21 I moved to Maui for business and my brothers came to visit. We decided to partner up to start Waves and Wheels Surfcenters. The stores thrived and I discovered I was good at design and promotion which led me to attend art school. The stores also led me to my soulmate. When Andrea come in to shop I said, “I’m going to marry that girl,” and I did. We married on Maui, traveled the tropics, and settled down in Mission Beach.
I wrote my first book and joined Toastmasters, discovering I loved writing and speaking. I signed with SkillPath Seminars in 1995, and traveled the country as a lead trainer. After the birth of our two sons I chose to get off the road to start my own successful speaking business and sign with Random House to write a series of popular books—25 in all.
I love my wife (of 26 years). I love spending time with my boys. I love what I do for a living.”
